HTC Announces Global Branding Strategy

Taoyuan, Taiwan, R.O.C. - May 8, 2007 - High Tech Computer Corp. (TAIEX: 2498; "HTC"), the world's leading provider of Microsoft® Windows Mobile®-based smart devices, announced today that it has signed an acquisition agreement with Dopod International, one of the leading PDA Phone and smartphone distributors in Asia, to purchase the assets of nine Dopod International subsidiaries, including Dopod Taiwan, Dopod Hong Kong, Dopod Singapore, Dopod Malaysia, Dopod Indonesia, Dopod Australia, Dopod Thailand, Dopod India, and Dopod Philippines. The acquisition agreement is still subject to shareholder approval this June.

Dell's Chennai Plant will be ready by July '07

Dell on Tuesday said its Chennai plant will become operational by July this year and was expecting its India revenues moving toward $1-billion mark. The India facility would cater to the Indian domestic market to start with, and is expected to produce 400,000 units per year.

AMD's Teraflop Computing in a Box

AMD last week demonstrated a single system with over a teraflop of computing power at a press event in San Francisco, California. AMD demonstrated a “Teraflop in a Box” system running a standard version of Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional that harnessed the power of AMD Opteron™ dual-core processor technology and two next-generation AMD R600 Stream Processors capable of performing more than 1 trillion floating-point calculations per second using a general “multiply-add” (MADD) calculation. This achievement represents a ten-fold performance increase over today’s high-performance server platforms, which deliver approximately 100 billion calculations per second.
